GX 339-4: Continued Optical and Infra-red Decline

Ongoing observations of GX 339-4 by the SMARTS consortium 1.3m telescope and ANDICAM instrument at
CTIO show a continuing sharp decline in optical and near-IR flux levels throughout the X-ray state transition described by Smith et al. (ATEL #322). Data taken starting August 20 UT=2:36 shows V=16.8, I=15.1, J=14.9, H=14.6. This constitutes a decline of 0.8, 1.0, 1.4 and 1.9 magnitudes respectively in V, I, J and H since July 31.
